The school system does not always support the best interest of students. My colleague told me one of her courses was maxed out and some students would not have been able to take the course until the following year. The course is a compulsory one and these grade 11 students would be forced to take the course with grade 10 students. The teacher went to the administration to say she was volunteering to take all 28 students ( 3 over the maximum of 25 for that type of course). They referred her to the union rep. He said this was not allowable. Undaunted, she went to the Guidance department and worked out a scheme whereby the 3 extra students would be officially registered and actually sitting in another course and classroom, but she would give them the work for her course and work with them ( and the teacher) individually. Then Guidance would change the course code from the alternative course code to her course code at the end of the semester. A brilliant example of putting students first and cheating the system ethically, don't you think?

I think this is a great example of putting students first and cheating the system ethically. It is important to remember that the needs of students should be at the forefront of education. This teacher was focused on helping her students to achieve their goals and was determined to offer support and create a solution that met everyone’s needs. In my opinion, teachers serve as a voice for students to address their needs and should try to facilitate problem solving and conflict resolution. As a future teacher, I believe that it is imperative to align our practice with our core values and the ethical principles of the teaching profession and lead by example.

I believe that this is a great example of putting students first and cheating the system ethically. First off, you can tell that this teacher joined the profession as a "calling" not as a "job". She went out of her way to help students be able to pursue their future and go forth in their education without having to put it on pause due to the school board not allowing them to join the class.

I believe that as teachers, our purpose is to support every student to reach their highest potential. This IS a brilliant example of ethical cheating and the teacher is doing just that- putting students first and allowing them to reach their highest potential by doing whatever she can to allow them to take the course. This teacher will be giving up time outside of school hours (planning, marking, preparing materials, creating resources) in order to provide these students with the opportunity to complete this course. The school system does not always support the best interest of students, but teachers do. Every day, teachers are putting students first to give them the best education possible. So I challenge the public and those individuals that believe that teachers don’t care about students. I challenge them to think of something that teachers in their past have done that went beyond what was expected of them. I am sure everyone can think of at least one teacher if not more, who went beyond to make a difference and help them become who they are today.

This situation is a great example of ethical cheating. Ethical cheating opens the door of the various differences between the historic traditions of academic versus putting students first. By putting the students first, the teacher is giving importance to her students. Unlike traditional education which is teaching what the books and curriculum tell the teacher to, this teacher is taking an extra effort to allow her grade 11 students to achieve. The teacher does not need to worry about the grade eleven students taking the course with grade ten's but she wants to help the students take the course. This teacher has taken an effort that she doesn't need to and situations like this shows the difference a teacher can make in a students life.
